Speaking as a pre-Boomer, to me the world stopped operating properly when the D&RGW quit running freights over Cumbres in 1968. Some of the pre-pre-Boomers who post here – such as Haich, the JéBêWèX and Roger – would more likely say 1951, when the 'San Juan' was taken off
