The 493 painting by J. Finnell that Greg Scholl referred to above is illustrated in Dorman's "Chama/Cumbres" book. It is a beautiful painted version of a photo in Norwoods "Rio Grande Narrow Gauge Recollections" that is credited to the Museum of New Mexico. I seem to recall that the original photo was by Ernie Robart, but I can't be sure about that. The two versions are attached

The scene at Perry's pond was taken on December 6, the next freight cycle after the November 22 operation of this thread. The December 6 revenue freight operation was the last westbound train for 1967 and the 6th-to-last freight for the Rio Grande.
I am toying with the idea of doing a photo story on the 52. Anniversary, December 5 and 6, of that run if there is still interest in happenings from those last years
