As dusk started to settle in, the train continued to roll around the many loops at a pretty good speed. The temperature was dropping, but at least the tender of 493 provided a bit of a wind break for the riders.
Leaving the train on the last big loop before Big Horn, I drove to Antonito and watched the headlight of 493 approach out of the darkness. As agreed, the train stopped briefly to let the two riders climb off their lumber flat car after their awesome narrow gauge ride. Thanks to fireman Stanley Smith and engineer Lira for helping make this once-in-a lifetime adventure possible.
