Not an article but a letter to the editor. At least the Herald choose to publish it. And while it is easy for most of us to agree with the contents of the letter, we are only fooling ourselves. The fact the railroad was there first really makes no difference. Only votes count, and the newbies get to vote. And they are unlikely to leave. So whether we like it or not the railroad needs to earn their right to exist every day, over and over. And that most likely requires compromise. I think the folks at the D&S fully understand that reality and have done a good job of trying accommodate the realities of a changing Durango. Their strong suit is the jobs they create directly and indirectly, so I think the deck is stacked in their favor. But they still need to play the rest of their cards right.
