What you mean-um "even with the green boiler jacket", Kemo Sabé?? Here's what you said at the time (emphasis mine):

IMHO, it was a fun trip BECAUSE of the green boiler jacket -
The whole thing was a bit of a practical joke – a just-for-the-hell-of-it sort of trip right from the get-go – so the participants pretty much self-selected into a like-minded group of ne'er-do-wells who were there mainly to have a good time (and for us jolly greenies to thumb our noses at those drab blackie skeptics). Another factor was the complete lack of worry over getting every little detail "just like it was in 1950" for nit-picky perfect Phraud-O-Graphs™. There was no possibility whatsoever of re-creating the original train, so with #489's tender already wearing a flying
Rio Grande logo the only preparation needed – other than assembling a colorful and interesting short train in Antonito – was the green jacket, for which the paint – and even the labor* – were donated. No "chase train", either, so the expense was kept to a minimum. And we lucked out with a beautiful day, even though we did miss out on the hoped-for full moon at 217.35 (which wasn't entirely my fault).
