I've wanted to explore the Calumet branch for years. However, there seems to be no easy access to the area. To get to Hecla Junction it looks like you either hike up the mainline about 2.5 miles from an access point north of Salida, or swim across the Arkansas River from the raft recovery site. Otherwise, you could drive up the the top of the canyon and hike about 6 miles down downstream without any observable trail. I'd love to recreate some of the photos sites...
