Common sense and what people actually do are often not connected in any meaningful way.
Having said that, I am curious about operating rotaries on mountain railroads.
I would think it wouldn't be wise to operate a rotary on a steep down grade such as the descent from Cumbress or from White Pass.
It seems logical that it would be safer to operate rotaries going up steep grades and not down.
Am I making too much of this?
