10 minutes after 476 departed, #18 eased out of Rockwood and down the hill toward Hermosa.
Followed a few minutes later by RGS 5
Near whiteout conditions greeted us a Hermosa. We had no way to know if the trains were behind or ahead us. We stopped at a crossing just beyond Hermosa and looked at the track . 476 had been past here, confirming they were not stopped at Hermosa to let the other trains around them. So ahead we went. We caught up with 476 a few miles ahead, here she's pushing the day's accumulation of snow near Home Ranch.
It was still coming down hard as they eased across 6th Street into the Durango Depot.
The snow stopped about 20 minutes later when #18 came rolling into town.
