After leaving the coach on the wye, #18 went back over to the main line and picked up the freight cars.
I bet #18's feet were as cold as mine were.....
RGS 5 lead #18 down into the Canyon for some photographic adventures. We took the break in the action to hunt up some lunch. When we got back to we got the latest update: 476 had reached Cascade turned and was now behind RGS 5 and SP 18. Everything was on its way back up the hill into Rockwood. At Rockwood, 476 would run around the two trains and break the trail back toward Durango as some 6" of snow had fallen since this morning. Initially, 476 was to let the trains back around her at Hermosa, so 476 could take time to plow and flange out the Event Park Wye (not to confused with Elk Park Wye...). But with the snow continuing to fall rather heavily, it was decided to have 476 stay ahead of the trains all the way back to Durango.
Here SP18 holds the main with RGS 5 behind her as 476 runs around the train, and heads off down the hill
