Thanks Casey! I'd like to put together a time line sometime on the various SVRy significant happenings. I did not know for sure what year the Baldwin Mike's left the property. I had assumed they were there till 1947. There is a note hand written in the valuation report dated in 1943 when the turntable was pulled out of S.Baker and installed as bridge 12A to replace a pile trestle up the main. It seems odd that they seemingly eliminated the ability to keep the Baldwin engines out of the weather in the round house before they sold them, unless they were already gone in 1943 to the steel oufit awaiting sale. The out of service dates I have seen is 8/1/44 for the 17 which had been converted to oil. 16 and 18 are out of service 1/1/43 and #50 in 1/1/41. 19 and 20 are listed by SVRy as out of service 1/1/41 as well. When exactly were they shipped to WP&Y? Some say 1940, which seems inconsistant. Also, as 19 and 20 went north with the tender from and 50 and one of the Baldwin Mike's, it is easy to see how the 50's could have been used as the 50 was out of service, but it seems odd that the other Baldwin Mike's could have all been listed in service when one was short a tender. Could it be that they were functionally out of service but that they maintained record keeping on them for the ICC up to the date's listed. Wasn't it possible as far as the 1472 service days to keep out of service reocrds going so that an engine with otherwise more tube time could be activated?
The 250/251 with tenders were undoubtedly to long for the turntable and perhaps too long for the roundhouse stalls as well. I wonder if cabeese 3 and 4 were sold to the WP&Y at the same time as 19 and 20, or did this occur later? Were the 1918 AC&F pass. cars and combine sold to WP&Y in 1947 or earlier? Apparently some of the flat cars that had been used for hauling lumber out of Bates were also sold to the WP&Y. Was this at the end of operations, or did this occur before
1947. I have seen photos of large #'s of SVRy boxcars loaded on std. ga. flats bound for Hondouras. I what wonder what year this occured? Along the same lines, I've been wondering when some of the various logging mainlines were last in service and when track was pulled. I am thinking of the 20 some mile OLC mainline down the middle fork, and the Stoddard Lbr. mainline that took off at Mason that goes around Blk. Mtn. and of course what is commonly called the Currry Branch which was presumably last used by Stoddard as well.
Any idea what port the Baldwin engines left the country through?
Yeh I know... so many questions...
