59 Years and 1 day ago on the S.V.R.y

October 26, 2003 11:01AM
On October 25, 1944 the Sumpter Valley sold their three Baldwin Mikado's, the #16,17,and 18, as well as Baldwin ten-wheeler #50, to Dulien Steel Products Co. for $22,400. That works out to $5,600 per engine! Ahh...those were the days...
All four engines went to the Government of Peru and have more or less vanished. A sorrowful epitaph for such beautiful locomotives.
