D&SNG this weekend

I made a quick trip on the D&S this weekend, time constraints did not allow me to make it to Chama. The 486 is expected to be "unveiled" at the railfest this August. The 476 is on display in the museum for an unspecified amount of time Apparently with too many operable locos they will rotate an operable engine into the museum. The tender was removed and a platform built to look inside the cab, but not get into the cab. The museum host was not too friendly with the info and did not know much about anything. The B-7 was in the car shop he said, he did not know when it would be finished. Host sat at his desk and did not pay any attention to anyone, so we crawled on and in the 476, and probably could have done anything else we wanted too provided we were out of sight and quiet. 481 was down for repairs(monthly maint. I assume)so the other 4 were running daily. Unused frieght cars are corroding at a rapid pace. Gons that parallel tracks downtown are collecting bottles, mattresses, couches, etc. New pavillion was built at tail of Cascade wye for charter dinner trains. Charlie Moore had photos for sale in the museum, good photos of '98 winter mixed train. Hope to make it to Chama later this summer.
