Well, since it seems to be a known and oft repeated situation, then it probably is a just matter of time until something wanders off.
You can fit other stuff besides a camcorder in one of those big shoulder bags, whistles, valves, and number/builders plates are fairly easy and quick to remove....ask anybody in the antique farm machinery hobby what can come up missing in just a few minutes.
Actually, I was slightly more concerned about the point that this host sememed uninformed and couldn't/wouldn't answer questions.
