I'm not sure at "what point" you mean. 5 of 8 of your listings for the state of Washington just "appeared" one day on Wes Barris' list (i.e. 1, 2, 4, 6 and 7). Nobody I know, or have talked with, has has the slightest idea of where those listings came from and other than Wes' list has ever heard mention of them before.
As for locomotives "lost in the woods" (in perfect condition, just waiting to be steamed up!) I'm pretty dubious. There are a lot of hunters, fisherman, hikers, climbers, bird watchers, naturalists, and what have you, out in the woods every weekend. I can tell you from my own experience, that old roads and railroad grades are the easiest way to get into a lot of places. If there was a locomotive sitting somewhere, someone would have found it by now.
