Re: SV Mallet May Still Exist

Jim,
I still have hopes that one of the mallets still exists. Apparently, according to a man who had gone down to Guatemala every year from 1970 to 1995, both engines were rusting away in the yards until 1990. As for the #50, has there been any attempt to positively identify and or retrieve her? I think we need to send someone down to Peru and Guatemala and see exactly what is and isn't still there. I do agree that every western state has a story about lost locomotives, but often times they turn out to be true, and anyway it's a very big forest. I guess we'll just have to see wether or not these loco's materialize.
Thanks Again, Taylor
