Recently when I was up on the SV I was talking to one of the members about the mallets. He said that he'd heard that a man had recently gone down to Guatemala and that there was an articulated engine on display in a park. He said it didn't have any number plates so he couldn't possitively identify it. Apparently it did look like one of the mallets though. If it is you can bet SV will get it back. Also, there is a chance that the #16, 17, 18, and 50 may still exist in Peru. Apparently there was a large earthquake in the 70's that marooned a lot of equipment that was never retrieved, and the engines may be among this. And finally, I heard that the forest service apparently knows where the famous lost engine is located, but won't tell us where it is. If anyone can contradict or add info I'd love to hear it.
Thanks Again, Taylor
