The Como group is also small....just getting started. Sending everything C&S there just means they will got sit and rot in Como until the group can really make something out of the place, which will take time. Breckenridge has done pretty good for the C&S 9 (Jason was involved in that I believe) and Idaho Springs has a group (that I'm part of) that is looking after their engine and coach. With other projects on the table (1006) nothing major can happen to 60 and coach 70 yet, but in time we would like to do some big work on them (60 needs a new cab pretty bad, just for starters).
So saying move everything to Como just transplants the problem elsewhere. Sure Como has a roundhouse, but only 3 usable of the 5 stalls. 1 is taken up by 4 right now. They have plans, but it all takes time and money, and all these people are volunteers, and some have bills to pay elsewhere, so they cannot dedicate every second to preservation.
I'm sorry, not trying to rant, but it does bother me a bit when people start saying just move everything to Como....there are people who care about the other surviving artifacts...and are trying to make a difference....but we do have work to attend and bill's to pay, so it takes time. I look forward to helping out in Como this year, but too many projects is a bad thing in my opinion.
