More good C&S Stuff was to be found in Idaho Springs, so a brief stop was necessary:
I find it interesting the CB&Q would not put its herald on C&S NG power as it didn't want the world to associate its mighty name with something as old and out of date as narrow gauge engines. But when it came to putting them on display, they were suddenly proud to put their name on the side....
Also in Idaho Springs is/was the famous Argo Tunnel complex, the C&S ran right in front of it. It begged to have its picture taken.
A lot of the '76 trip was a "do-over" of 1975 in order get much better pics with my new camera. One pic I did not "do over" was the massive log retaining wall and ore chutes at Argo Tunnel, so this not-so-hot and heavily photo shopped slide from 1975 will have to do. I do like the '69 Cougar though...
Next stop - Silver Plume and the "Far Famed Georgetown Loop"...
