Museum policy is museum policy unfortunately.
Interesting the fireman wasn't wearing his. Then again I wonder if the policy makers at the TVRM realize what would happen to those vests if, God forbid, a massive steam leak happens in the cab through a failed water glass, plug etc. Those things are polyester people! Polyester when exposed to high temperatures melts and I don't think anyone would like that safety vest melting onto their skin...
