I think that's the point that the three employees at the WP&Y I've talked to (on two trips there) were all trying to make.
None of them even suggested that they don't like train fans, in fact, they all seemed pleased to meet one when I talked with them. But all three stated that folks like me were so uncommon that entire seasons can go by without ever meeting one.
I heard about the rotary trip(s), but that's what, one trip per
several years at a time?
It's sad that even where I live in the Pacific NW, hardly anyone I know has ridden the WP&Y. Among the guys I used to know back east, none of them even know anyone wh's ridden the line other than myself. I've never met anyone who's been there more than once.
