Make it a Saturday, so you can visit the Chehalis-Centralia Railroad & Museum and meet Harold Borovec: Steam Locomotive Engineer [Facebook]. They're only open on weekends and Harold would only run on Saturdays.

Their cab rides are worth the $40/fee, if you can get one of those tickets. The 5 PM Saturday dinner trains run farther down the line than the 1 pm and 3 pm runs, so if you happen to be visiting on one of the weekends when they're running a dinner train, ride that one!

You might also be able to to visit the Mt. Rainier RR in the morning and make it over the Chehalis in time for the dinner train -- I did that a few years ago, but I don't know if their current schedules would allow that.
