Yes, I would post some shots of it but dont know how! It is a very cool locomotive...and unique. It was built in Austria in 1890 by Krauss locomotive company. It has Helmholtz valve gear, which is walshcerts but is designed for easier machine work. Like the link, is not bent it is straight.
But yes, it is noisy and powerful, and any of you who are even remotely close should seriously think about coming down some weekend to Omaha and seeing that engine in operation, the guys running would be glad to give you a ride!
I got the weekend of the 30th off this month from my job at the local hobbyshop to spend a day there finally for the first time in like, 4 months! I usually would go every weekend, but I have a job now so its different! But I cant stand my current job as it is..."working with the public" I guess.
But I think all my Senior year ill be Engineer there, as a full time job, as a swing shift guy. I will most likely be done early during the school day as most seniors are, only because they've taken most of their classes. So i'll probably run there during the week from 1:00 or something, to 5:00. Then ill run on the weekends. Then hire out at the C&TS after school!! I know what I want to do,a nd plan to do it!
This was TOTALLY off subject! Sorry!
