There's no such thing as a dumb question, John -
IMHO, the only dumb thing is to remain unsure by not asking.
Yes, Ernie Robart re-lettered #483's tender to 'CUMBRES AND TOLTEC SCENIC RAILROAD' (4-inch letters, IIRC) with herald in 1970. This was completed by the evening of the first day that she was turned over to the C&TS by the D&RGW — September 1, 1970
:
About three weeks later, #483 was re-lettered again for the filming of 'Shootout', starring Gregory Peck. The director apparently liked photos he had seen of #483 in late 1968, when she was still wearing the "scarlet harlot" make-up from 'The Good Guys and the Bad Guys', but with the flying
'Rio Grande' that was applied when she pulled the National Park Service Special from Durango to Alamosa on November 23 & 24, 1968. I'm not sure why Ernie didn't re-re-letter #483 for the C&TS after the shooting of 'Shootout' was completed, but she was still wearing the
'Rio Grande' logo until repainted by the C&TS in late August of 1971.

p.s. I'm not sure when the bright red counterweights "disappeared" — maybe for the shooting of 'Shootout'. She was still wearing them in early September, but they had been covered with black when I rode behind and on her in mid-October.
