Overall the Corvairs were pretty good economy cars, but they had a nasty habit of the pushrod tube seals leaking after 60,000 miles coating the rear end in oil. I worked at a gas station in highschool and had a customer who would hand me a quart of SAE40 oil to put in every time he got gas. (And he needed it).
One thing old Ralph did was get himself attention and kill Corvair sales, Chevy dropped the line after 69 because sales were in the toilet.
