I was sent this link to a youtube video showing a local celebration of a new motorcar service on the former FES out of Sonsonate. Sonsonate was the headquarters and shops for the FES.. The accompanying info indicated the service didn't run very far, but this is the first firm evidence of railway activity in El Salvador since the commuter line out of El Salvador shut down several years ago.
In the background is FES 8, now stuffed and mounted, but back in the late 60's I chased it hauling the FES mixed trains. It is a Baldwin class of 1896 or something close to that. For anyone interested my pix of the FES from 1968 and slightly later can be found
