John:
The C&S had some dual gauge branches just east of Leadville and some trackage south of the depot. They used a converted narrow gauge flanger as dual gauge idler and exchanged both standard gauge and narrow gauge cars with the D&RGW. The D&RGW track from Leadville to the Arkanas Valley Smelter (as far as Eilers mp 273.33) was dual gauge until 1940. This means that the engines at Leadville did the branch runs and yard switching also.
