Lightning Stikes Again

I'm not sure I mentioned this so I'll tell it again, the Thursday Evening before our Friday, Goose 5 Ride from Antonito/Osier/Antonito. My friend and I camped on a ridge just north, a quarter mile, from Sublette, it was raining pretty hard, and I was having my doubts about camping in the rain, in my vehicle, thinking that the vehicles would make good lightning rods on the tops of the ridge. So as the night went on every time a lightning bolt would light up the rain, I woke up, It was nothing but rain/lightning from 9 PM til about 2 am and then the clouds roll away and the moon came out, and that was another problem to deal with, because it was a full moon, luckily around 3 am the clouds rolled back in and it started raining till we left to drive to Antonito. We had breakfast in Antonito and it continued to rain, even at 8 am when it was time to meet at the Depot. Rain, Rain, Rain. It rained off and on that whole day, luckily we were in the Goose 5 and not in an open observation car. But many of the stops that we did we had to fight the mud that was prevalent everywhere. The ballast that had been freshly laid in some spots help out a bunch, and in some of the areas there were old railroad tie piles that made for a less muddy run by for some. I have to admit it would have been nice to have good natural lighting in my photo's but again this was all a new experience in an area that I love to visit, so I'll take what I can get, and do with it what I can while I am there. Of course my camera got wet which is a no-no, and the lens fogged up on me, but luckily sitting it in the dash, for a couple hours, I was able to fix the problem until I had the proper tools to do it right. I never get board when I am around the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic RR, I love to make the best of every visit, know matter the weather, or the conditions.
