The roster in Farrell's book
Rails, Sagebrush and Pine (1967) provides different information. It does not report that it was involved with the trade with the E-N; it says "Out of service at Bates 4/24/24, on scrape line in 1936."
The E-N roster is a complex study. After the 1910 wash-out on the E&P and the set up of its successor E-N (operated by Nevada Transportation at that time) the three largest locomotives were traded to the Sumpter Valley:
#8 2-8-0 (outside frame) BLW 1906
#9 4-4-0 BLW 1880 ex C&C #1, acquired 1907 by E&P
#10 2-8-0 BLW 1890 ex Alberta Coal & Ry #7, acquired 1910 by E&P and was in the wash-out.
The E-N got three lighter locomotives from the SV. Possibly the trade involved four locomotives from the SV because during the 1920s the E-N wrote off on its record books a locomotive left behind in Oregon. A good friend has over the years attempted to put the E-N roster together and we have discussed it many times; but, I don't recall details at this time. We once commented that the E-N locomotive roster would drive one to drink; but then, you had to be drinking to consider trying to figure it out.
