E&P is certainly Eureka and Palisade. Brian Norden could probably describe the trade that occured between SVRy and E&P. We have recently had some backchannel discussion on the subject and there seems to be some continuing uncertainty as to what exactly was traded and I am sure he has a better handle on it than I do. A photo of a 4-4-0 on display in front of the Hotel/depot at Bates has added to the confusion.
Thanks for posting the info Dave!
Notice on the inspection report the name W.A.Roundy. He was one of if not the first machinist apprentice turned out of the SVRy shop. He also worked as an engineer for SVRy, and went on to become master mech. at 3 other logging rr shows. I was able to obtain an autobiograpy he dictated to one of his daughters for the SVRR archives. His story intrigued me because his initials are still on one of our air gauges that is still in use that he dead weight tested in 1917. Also members of his family still live here in this area. (As a slightly humorous aside, he has a great grandson of the same name who used to work at the local take and bake pizza place. Casey Carlson and I had been carrying on emails about Roundy's life story, so I sent him an email titled "Will Roundy made me pizza last night". Casey wanted to know what I had been smoking until I explained the joke.)
