Sometimes when we tie Eureka down at Cascade wye some of the crew is able to go on little hiking expeditions. Our pilot, took us over to the site where the boiler is located. Sure nuff its a boiler, and a real fixer upper at that. Just needs everything between the firebox door and the smokebox door...including the doors as I recall. However, it is really neat stuff to see and imagine about how it was used. Also, there are a couple cars there that have fallen to the ground and are termite food. No tracks go to the site so you kinda have to know where to look.
As I recall, it is on the Northwest side of the Teft Bridge about 1/4 mile off the railroad. Maybe it just seemed like 1/4 mile for us desert rats at that altitude
