W. T. Carter engines

This is not on DRG #77, but following your lead I saw the listings of the W. T. Carter engines in AK and LA. I knew Victor Carter of that family when he lived here in Santa Fe. He has a painting of a cabbage stack engine which he said his family donated to the Smithsonian. I'm trying to track down its wherabouts. From what I have been able to find out so far, the Smithsonian is a blank. Victor was very positive that the engine had been donated, so it looks like we have an interesting mystery on our hands.
Anybody know how to circumvent the bureaucrasy and contact Bill Withun directly? He should know.
