Start by calling the National Archives, and getting to the guy ( iforget his name) who basically gets paid to do your (citizen) bidding. Ask questions over the phone, and see what you can do through the mails, I was able to recieve all of the typed paperwork on the Uintah in this manner, several years ago, took a while ( couple of months) but the payoff was great. "Everything you have on the D&RG" would of course be a monumental task, and might be better broken down in to sections as the archivist would be able to figure out what sections of th epapertrail he could effectively manage. Seemed to be a regular flow of these requests and the archivist was more than helpfull. I don't remember what the formula for getting copies of the large maps was, but I can remeber that I was glad there was a copy available locally, as I remember it being a fairly expensive process.
