This can all get real fuzzy, if you're going to do work once (absolute safety) you might as well use a rupture disc and I'm surprised that issue hasn't been
approached. The dollars in the valve (use often) are in the design to minimize the differential between open and reseat (closed), from what I've seen the
Strasburg design works quite well in that regard.
