How odd. the orginal 1963 edition has this corectly. IE, the engines in queston (412-416, 155-157) were built std ga in 1881 (same year 3rd rail was added Denver-Pueblo) then reno'd in 1887.
As to articulated engines, in the 1924 renumbering the existing std ga articulateds were moved to 3300, 3400 & 3500 series. I've always suspected that 3000, 3100, & 3200 series were left for possible narrow gauge use.
