Hi Jim,
He and his partner had planned to set up a logging railroad museum and the equipment was stored on his partner's farm just outside of Ann Arbor. Not all the equipment got moved to Ann Arbor, but they had acquired two Shays, one Climax, two 0-4-4t's, two 0-4-0 saddle tanks, an American log loader, a half dozen log cars, the two EBT pieces and several steam tractors. The EBT baggage was originally from Michigan, which is why it was purchased. When they realized that obtaining financing for such a venture in the late 1950's and early 1960's just wasn't feasible, they advertised the collection in Trains Magazine. All the equipment survives today and is in a variety of collections in a variety of conditions, but if they hadn't bought them, none likely would have survived, with the exception of the two EBT cars which would have been better off if they stayed home. They were in good shape when they were purchased by the Sundown & Southern, but by the time the FEBT purchased them from the Drawer estate and returned them to Orbisonia, they were in sad shape.
