This wreck of an NP caboose ended up in the possession of SVRR, so a narrow gauge connection to be sure. It had been acquired at no cost to SVRR with the idea of becoming additional crew quarters, something that did not come to pass. It continued it's journey back to soil for a few more years becoming a party house with potential liability for SVRR, on the outskirts of a small town in N.E.Ore. Last summer someone expressed interest in it, so we made a deal to make it go away. A member of a logging family bought it, and you can see how he moved it after a few false starts. Old truck axle parts under the caboose and a small loader to tow it about 10 miles up a back road to his site very early one Sunday morning. I remarked that I would not have wanted to follow it up the road for all the nails that probably fell out of it. As luck would have it, I was up that road a few days later and in fact got a flat tire from a small nail.
So maybe an answer to the original question in a way to suggest how resourceful loggers are.
