Chili Line

March 06, 2017 06:27PM
In the 1920s the Chili Line had a freight per day each way and a passenger train per day each way. Looks like caboose-hugging Norm Roberts was conductor on one of the freight trains with JJ. Walsh and C.A. Kellogg, the correspondent for the newspaper as engineers. Then there was the branch line train to LaMadera. Sam Brown, one of the hostlers who almost got blown up in the 1909 explosion in Alamosa, was one of the firemen. All of this action was using small engines.
