As I told CJ back channel, I would love to see the pump house and tank restored to use. For two reasons. Most importantly, it's historic and should be preserved. Second, operationally it would be nice to have more water available. While normally Lava isn't needed, in a record dry year such as this, there is risk that the flow at Sublete could become inadequate. It is unlikely the the Los Pinos will dry up, so Lava should have a more reliable supply. Right now, Sublete is the only water between Antonito and Osier (and for at least a few months there is no water at Osier because the tank is being rebuilt). But realisitically, restoring the pumphouse and pipe, not to mention repairs to the tank which has been dry for 25 years, is a pretty major undertaking and questions about priorities have to be asked. Damn those priorities!
