Casey is right the 3 mogul's SVRy purchased from the Tonopah RR were beefy for their wheel configuration as the first photo shows. The man leaning on the running board is long time SVRy machinist W. A. Roundy. We think the 2nd shot with #4 sporting a steel cab is likely after it's rebuild in 1921 after going through the round house fire. #4 had 44" drivers, 16x22" cyl. 67,000lb on drivers, 68,411lb eng. wt., 23,428lb. tender wt., WSP 150psi., TE. 16,320lbs. These 3 moguls had more TE than any of the several consolidations that the SVRy owned. What other NG rr operated similar moguls?
The first photo if from the SVRR Archives Martin E Hansen Collection and the second is from the SVRR Archives Emlaw Collection.
