The next 3 shots show different stages of getting the line open not necessarily in the order of events . Notice that in the 1st shot the plow train has been turned in relation to the pass. consist, or the pass. consist turned, the caboose from the freight added plus another engine on the back end and possibly one or two more on the head. In the next to last shot the consist has been further rearranged. This photo and the last may have been taken at a different time, but I tend to think they are all related. The last shot I like to think was taken after the line was cleared and the equipment put to bed. The conductor posing for one last shot with his machine that triumphed over mother nature. I recall reading another account somewhere that it took the plow train 2 days to reach the stranded trains. Per "Rails Sagebrush and Pine" on the 3rd day the stranded pass. train plus a caboose along with 7 engines and the plow headed down grade to the Sumpter Valley ( and some much needed rest for all the crews and section workers I imagine).
