Interesting note I've wondered about with the D&RGW 215 / 212... did the Rio Grande consider and use it as a Drover's Caboose ?
From what I gather, it's main purpose was to travel the Pagosa Branch, where it served as a combination Caboose, lite Baggage Combine, and limited seating Coach. But was not a "Drovers Caboose" in the traditional sense, and was not used as such, like other railroads (i.e. Santa Fe), who ran similar designed cars with Stock trains to provide passage for the Drovers who handled the stock on that train.
So... maybe it's just the model railroaders who call it the 212/215 a "Drover's Caboose" when on the Rio Grande, it was not ?
