Nice photos Dave. I also found images of 483 without the plow on the 1960 trip. I did not know about the dates on Russ's trip the next weekend. What engines did you have on those 3 days?
Also in looking at my dads films again, it appears he did not have any films with the Nomad on the westbound leg in 1959. However, I had a couple of prints taken from the train, which I called a "Weird coach" cause it looked so different with the windows from my perspective back in the train. I was hoping dad had some of it on film, but no luck. Except for 1954 and 1956 he shot very little between Chama and Durango.
I believe the 473/491 shot westbound up Cumbres goes with the 483 which had a plow westbound. But I cannot find any reference dates. One fellow emailed me a shot of 483 south of Alamosa with a plow and it was September of 1961. Might the 476 helping the 473(Split with 3 freight cars between them), have been the day after the 483 ran in 1961? One step further our film shows 491 as the road engine and 474 helping up Cumbres westbound. Might that have been the last day of the Fall 1961 trip?
We do have some other footage(Not from my dad), that shows 476 westbound from Antonito. Apparently that is Memorial day 1959! Antonito even had a band there to greet the train.
