I've always seen it that the swap (K-36's to Salida, '37's to Alamosa) began in the late Fall of 1950. Alamosa branch abandonment was approved 10/9/51. A note in NGN in November of '50 says the Valley line train was running weekly. I suspect the 36/37 swap wasn't the only transfer of equipment going on at the time. (not to mention the Fall stock rush, of course)

The times for the k-36's coming back from Salida I dredged out of NGN some years ago are:
 8/56
 3/56
 8/56
 7/56
 Nope.
 12/52
 12/52
 9/56
