I'll be 132 and with advances in medicine and life support techniques, I plan to be here for the ribbon cutting, but we have to pick up the pace. The year 2072 is mythical and it usually ends the questions. There is a very tentative proposal to do most of the construction in the next several years, but 2072 is a safe bet for discussion. The response I usually get is, "really?"
It is well established that the assets of the DRHS including the 315, are not even under consideration for the operational Silverton Northern--two separate distinct projects and two separate groups of people. They have their plans for preservation, and we have our plans for an operational railroad. There is an almost insurmountable distance of 2 miles between the two activities. The corporate name of the Silverton Northern is owned by the San Juan County Historical Society and the use of the name is our only common railroad interest.
