There are progression photos in the Depot, the earliest I do not have authority to post:
1880 Gilman Hotel built - source Fairplay Flume opened on News Years Eve Gilman was a Conductor and also operated other Eating Houses, a busy man. There is mention of a tented establishment operated by him and 2 partners in the summer of 79.
1883 pre Dispatchers Office shows Gilman photo extended to the south with the flat roofed extension plus the original rectangular Depot and the extension fill in piece.
There is a slightly later less clear photo that shows the Dispatchers Office.
1887 Pacific Hotel with the Depot separated by about 15ft. They spent the summer of 1885 seriously upgrading the Hotel.
1896 showing the Pacific burned to the ground. The Pacific Hotel Company had ceased to operate the Hotel but the name was still used.
The current building photo above. The main name was Como Eating House, the daily return in 1910 called it the South Park Hotel, occasional reference to Pacific Hotel and Como Hotel. The floorp lans have Como Hotel, some of the wood trim has Como EH written on the back.
To confuse matters further when the Hodges took over the building in 1978 Mrs Hodges liked the name Como Depot which of course they owned and used the name for their business, locals still call the Hotel the Depot from those days, which it never was.
