Extras don't run in sections, If you need two extra trains you run two separate extra trains, both with white flags or class lights. Also keep in mind that running trains in sections is a dispatching tool, it does not necessarily mean the different sections have anything to do with each other. On the SP it was common for the streamlined Lark to leave San Francisco flying green flags, meaning there was a following section. But the following section was a drag freight. Running it that way just happened to make the dispatching a bit simpler.
