Dan, Karl will contact you next week, over the next week we're pouring concrete footings for the train shed (Thursday) and moving in the 252 and moving the caboose over to the main display track (Monday). All: there will be a few changes from the original design. The New 36 will run on Diesel, rather than coal, for a variety of reasons, and will also be set up to run short distances (like, on our 250-foot display track) on compressed air. This saves boiler days, and means we don't have to dispose of huge amounts of water after demonstrating for 1 hour to school kids and bus tours, also air days don't count against the boiler days. Compressor and tanks will be hidden in the tender. Beyond that, the other changes will be pretty much hidden, I'm not the tech guy to enumerate them. No chance of the loop around the racetrack, again for a variety of reasons including property setbacks, buried track along the length of Railroad Street, mixed ownership between the town and the county and parking at the 4H Event Center. Much of our rail supply will probably go to Silverton to help recreate the Silverton Northern, we have donated a couple of hundred feet so far, and intend to donate more as needed and as appropriate trailers are available.
Great description of the 36 above, thanks James!
