RGS 36 was a Baldwin class 8-18½-C drawing 2, originally built as D&RG #93 "Roaring Fork". The D&RG called the type its class 42. It was very similar to "Eureka" in a broad sense (performance, weight, etc), but differing in some detail measurements. 4-4-0 arrangement, 12x18 cylinders, 45 inch driving wheels, coal fired, 40 inch diameter boiler using 144 1.5 inch diameter tubes. Tractive effort would've been about 6365 pounds; with 12 of them built it was the most numerous type of D&RG 4-4-0's (24 total among 4 classes). The D&RG engines were painted green* (including the cab--no bare varnished cab here) with extensive trim linework of various colors and had diamond stacks and fluted domes as-built but were later modified in black with extended smokeboxes and straight stacks and rounded domes (circa 1890) in keeping with the change of styling preferences over the years. I think by the time RGS acquired its 36 it was already in its later form, though I could be mistaken.
*the final three, numbers 99, 100, and 101, were delivered black instead of green but were otherwise identical to the first nine. The engine which went to the RGS was part of the batch that was green as-built.
I wonder if the reproduction will stay with the 1.5 inch tubes or if they'll alter the boiler internals.
