I have no dog in this discussion, but would add one thing to what rehunn said about determining what gets restored in general. Yes, what pays the rent makes sense in a business environment, but if a restoration is to be completed using volunteers, the choice of which piece of equipment to be restored is also dependent on whether there is sufficient volunteer interest. The board of a non profit organization could dictate that they want caboose xyz restored, but if most of the active volunteer labor force is interested in something else and will not turn out for the xyz project, then the board would need to rethink their priority or at least how to sell it to the members. Anyway, just some mindless ramblings probably not worth 2 cents.
