You summed it up pretty well.
You're right, it is quite ironic you know, to see people moan and groan about the 483/497/492/ etc. about not being in service, yet when last summer when both companies announced the talks for the 478/483 swap, there was debating all over whether it was worth it.
I don't get how the D&S are the bad guys, either.
I'm very Happy that another K37 is getting restored. What i think both companies should do for the 493, and for the C&TS for 168, to help raise funds, i would go talk to Model Railroad Companies like LGB, Marklin, Bachmann, Accucraft, etc. and see if they can produce models of those locomotives, and all the money they make on the models should go to the respective companies. I believe Marklin did something like that when a locomotive was damaged in a fire a few years back.
well, it is safe to say the this decade has brought a LOT of changes. We have 463, 491, and soon to be 168 and 493 back in operation.
